We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in Pisa yesterday and headed in the direction of Siena this morning. Our goal was San Gimignana, a small town in the foothills in Tuscany. Again the scenery was just magnificent! About 11 kilometers outside of San Gimignana we came across a lovely place with fantastic views and decided we found our home for the night. The apartment is as nice as the views.
After settling in our place we decided to do some exploring and grab some lunch before wine tasting. We had no trouble finding San Gimignana and the center of the walled medieval city. We parked the car and found a little cafe on a plaza. After a wonderful salad we wondered around the city for a bit and then decided to try some Tuscany wine. Easier said than done. We first had to find our car which took a very long time because it was lost. (Wayne is never lost – only the car gets lost.) While searching for our car, we met a couple from Slovakia who were singing their country’s praises and an American couple from CA. By the time we found our car we missed wine tasting, so we went back to our “home for the night” and relaxed in the sun until it was time to go for dinner. It was just down the road a couple of kilometers. The food and wine were wonderful. We had wild boar stew which was new to both of us but quite tasty.
Now we will bid you all Buono Notte.
Ciao,
Wayne & Peggy
