We had an uneventful travel day as we slowly make our way to the Grand Tetons. We had an extra day to kill as we didn’t want to get there during the holiday weekend; and since I was way behind on the blog we decided to stop early and stay in a small town near the Idaho/Wyoming border. We were again rewarded with beautiful vistas as we drove over mountains and valleys slowly increasing in elevation which is about 6,000 feet above sea level in Montpelier.
As we had run out of wine, we asked the hotel clerk where we could buy some and were informed that we could buy wine at the local grocery store or the gas station next door. We opted to go to the grocery store only to find out that all grocery stores in the county were closed on Sundays. So we were forced to go to the gas station instead. (I know they put ethanol in gasoline, but gas stations selling the kind of ethanol one drinks was beyond anything I ever imagined. This could only happen in Idaho.) I have to say, in all my life, I have never gone to a gas station to buy booze. Clearly a new experience for me.
