Last night, while looking at the map and for points of interest, we were reminded that the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is located in Cincinnati, OH which is right on our way home. So we decided that would be our next stop. The problem we faced was that the center is only open today until 5 PM and it is closed tomorrow – and it’s a long way from Springfield. So if we were going to get there today, we needed to get a real early start and move out quickly – which we did. With the traffic being what it was, we arrived in Cincinnati around 4 PM in time to visit the center but to our dismay found that it was next door to the Cincinnati Bengals football stadium which was just disgorging millions of fans (somebody fed the pigeons) into the street bringing traffic to a standstill
. After squandering over half an hour trying to find a place to park, we gave it up and decided to move on. And since the center is closed tomorrow, and we are both eager to get home, the center will have to wait for another time.Tomorrow, we’ll head to Blackwater Falls State Park in West Virginia and hope the weather gods smile on us.
