Day 4, 28 July 2022: Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada

Following a very good sleep, we decided to have a slow lazy day. The first order of business it to get the coffee pot started and then breakfast. By the time we finished breakfast, took care of all our personal hygiene matters and cleaned up the campsite, it was approaching noon. As it turned out, the weatherman promised us rain for the afternoon, so that was a perfect time to visit the Visitor Center which has many wonderful exhibits (and free WiFi).

We used the wifi to connect to the internet and pay some bills (yes, they do follow us on vacation), and catch up on email and our travel blog. Afterwards, we toured the exhibits. Between the center’s exhibits and the park programs, the park does an amazing job educating people about the parks geography, wildlife and the history of human activities and influence. The exhibits are extremely well done and the stuffed animals are very realistic. Our timing was perfect as the rain stopped and the sky cleared for the remainder of the day just as we completed our visit.

After our visit, I got the hungries so we went to the Two Rivers Lake Cafe for a sandwich. The sandwich I had was truly made for Paul Bunyan and by the time I finished I had no remaining thoughts for dinner. We returned to our campsite, recharged our own batteries by the lake for a while and later went out for ice cream (for dessert).

We are truly privileged to be on our latest adventure. The scenery is spectacular and the number of lakes in the park is mind blowing. The Canadian people are so friendly and helpful. Getting to meet and chat with people is another advantage of camping.

It’s getting dark and time to wrap up and ready ourselves for an early start tomorrow morning. Our goal is Hearst, Ontario, but it’s an 8 ½ hour drive, so we probably will stop somewhere short of that. We’ll see what happens.
