Today we continued on our adventure. It was a short travel day because we stopped in Sunnyvale to have lunch with friends of Wayne’s whom he last saw in 1978. Although the scenery remains unchanged for the most part, it still fascinates us. Our travels today took us across the Golden Gate Bridge. Unfortunately, the view was obscured by fog!
Because of conflicting schedules, we only had time for an afternoon visit and a delicious lunch prepared by our hostess. We did enjoy our visit and will be sure to do a better job coordinating our schedules for our next trip to California. We left our friends about 4 p.m. Hopefully, the route to their 4:30 p.m. appointment was less congested than ours. After bumper to bumper rush hour crawl for an hour and going only 14 miles, we got off the highway and found a hotel for the night!
After checking into our digs for the night, we went in search of a light dinner. We bought sandwiches and ice cream and decided on a backwards dinner. So far the only course that we’ve consumed has been dessert.
Since we don’t have a fun sign for the day, Peggy wants to share the discovery for the day: bourbon has a better flavor when warm. Since today’s temperature rose to 90+, when I went to have my libation this evening, the Knob Creek was quite warm and more flavorful than at room temperature. That sums up our day. Today we hope to again travel along the ocean on California’s famous Coast Road (CA 1).
