Greetings all! Sorry we have been AWOL for the last few days, but we have been very busy – having fun! Early Saturday a.m. we sadly said goodbye to daughter Deborah and continued our journey. We are constantly amazed by the beauty of this country and the changing landscape. The landscape slowly metamorphed from desert to hills to mountains. The scenery continued to be spectacular but sadly afforded few photo ops. You’ll need to come and see for yourself.
The tall pine trees in Magalia provide wonderful shade and some protection from the heat of the sun. Mother Nature also decided to smile on us and the high temps were in the 90s rather than 100s. We had a terrific visit with niece Wendy and her husband Peter! It was great catching up with them; it had been too long between visits.

On Sunday, we visited a small park, Clothilde Merlo Memorial Park established by her son. The park is a wonderful Oasis of trees, a small pond, picnic areas, sculptures of children doing fun things like swimming, fishing, playing leap frog. There is a small outdoor chapel. The park is rented out for private events including weddings. There was a 50th wedding anniversary celebration while we were there.
