Day 11, Thursday, 4 August 2022: Canmore, Alberta

Canmore has changed dramatically in the last 27 years. There are numerous new apartment complexes, hotels, lodges for skiers, mountaineers and other sports enthusiasts, new restaurants, stores, and a new tourist center (which is open year round). It also has an amazing facility called Elevation Place with indoor swimming pool, gym, climbing wall, library and coffee area. The Nordic Centre, built for The Olympics, is also nearby. Canmore is popular year round as it is great for skiing, mountain climbing, hiking, biking, canoeing, rafting, golfing and other outdoor sports.

Canmore has a weekly farmers market which is open on Thursdays (we lucked out today). We purchased fresh vegetables and bison burgers for dinner tonight. After wandering through the farmers market, we took refuge from the intermittent rain and wind in the library where we are catching up on emails and updating the blog. We fell so far behind on the blog that I am only posting the text today and, since more rain is forecast for tomorrow, I’ll be cleaning up photos and posting them tomorrow.

The weather today has been intermittent rain and wind. Hopefully, there will be enough of a break in the weather to cook dinner. I’m looking forward to a bison burger.
