Day 12, Friday August 5, 2022: Canmore, Alberta

View from campground

After a chilly night, we woke to warm sunshine. We had a leisurely breakfast and as the campground emptied, we decided there should now be hot water for showers. Let’s just say our showers were invigorating. As we left the campground to explore more of Canmore and surrounding areas the clouds rolled in and began a competition with the sun. It was downright chilly when the clouds hid the sun. After doing some necessary shopping, we headed to the library to upload pictures to the blog. We enjoyed a lovely view of the mountains while we updated the blog and read email. We had considered hiking Grassie Mountain, but the wind and threat of rain held us back. (Later, we found out from a fellow camper that the Grassie Mountain hiking trails are closed this year.) We headed back to camp and made dinner. Happily, the weather gods cooperated and there were only a few sprinkles and the sky became mostly clear.

Since we have decided to leave Canmore tomorrow, after dinner we packed up much of our stuff and then read our story for a couple of hours. It stays Daylight until almost 10 pm which is pretty neat. With the stars barely shining we headed off to bed.
