Today ended our stay at the El Cordova Hotel on Coronado. It was truly delightful and we plan on returning in the future. We packed up and headed for our daughter Debbie’s place for a couple of days before we head north to wine country. After settling in, we took off for a fun tour (and tasting) at the Ballast Point Brewery (another of San Diego’s plethora of craft breweries). The food was wonderful and the beer was great. We were truly impressed with the volume of beer they produce weekly. We were told the numbers and have forgotten, but it was truly impressive. My only concern is that they produce many different styles of beer rather than focusing on just a few. In the past, I have found that people who try to make all kinds of beverages, foods or anything else sooner or later wind up not excelling at anything.

Later this evening we had a wonderful rib-eye steak dinner at Debbie’s. I got to do the barbecue, so (like a true steak snob) I could guarantee the steaks were cooked to perfection. To top off the evening we watched an episode of “Final Cut” (the last season of the original BBC version of House of Cards). For those who are addicts of House of Cards (the Netflix version), they should watch the original BBC series. I never cease to be amazed at how accurately Netflix Americanized the British version of the novel.

From all the reports we are getting, we are so very fortunate in choosing this time to snowbird to warmer climes. Fortunately it appears that we have escaped any damage at home due to the extreme weather and hopefully our good luck will continue. And just as fortunately, we have been blessed with wonderful weather and a wonderful trip thus far.
