Day 16, Tuesday, 9 August 2022: Travel Day – Chelan, WA to Kent, WA

Our time here in the Lake Chelan area has come to an end and we will head west to a cooler part of Washington state. Peggy has decided that we are not fair weather campers, we are “Goldilocks campers” – not too cold, not too hot, not too wet but just right weather conditions! Today we traveled under cloudy skies and cooler temperatures.

Downtown Leavenworth, WA

We decided to stop at Leavenworth, WA. It is known for its Alpine style architecture, Octoberfest celebration and extensive Christmas decorations. It is a quaint village with a true Bavarian feel. Alas, we were there at lunch time and the only place available (before our parking time expired) was a Mexican restaurant. The food was good and we enjoyed sitting outside underneath an umbrella to protect us from the few rain drops that intermittently fell. We went to a bakery for gingerbread cookies for desert.

Stevens Pass through the Cascade Mountains

Although there are no vacancies for the rest of the week, we decided to travel in the direction of Paradise Inn and Mt. Rainier for a short hike and photo ops tomorrow. About the time we decided to look for overnight lodging the check engine light came on. Since it was after 5pm, there were no repair shops open. The computer reader at Auto Zone said the oxygen sensor is bad. There are worse engine problems to have. We’ll find a repair shop in the morning. We found a hotel for the night and enjoyed our dinner and wine from yesterday’s winery. We’ll read our story for a bit and then tuck in.

Tomorrow we’ll have to see about auto repairs.
