Day 18, Aug 4: Mt. San Jacinto to Julian, CA

We woke to another beautiful morning and slowly packed up the campsite. We were sorry to leave the beautiful mountains but not the pine sap that seemed to Peggy to be everywhere including inside on the tent floor and the seat of her pants!

Again we were treated with beautiful vistas as we traveled to the small mountain town of Julian. It is an old gold mining town that has transitioned into a fun artsy type of town. Upon arrival we headed to our favorite spot- the Miner’s Diner with an original soda fountain. They make the BEST ice cream sodas and it is a must stop on our annual snow bird visit to daughter Deb in San Diego. We poked around the little shops for a bit including our favorite Hearth and Heart.

We then headed to the Butterfield Bed & Breakfast where we were staying for the night. It is a lovely place tucked into the hillside. Dawn & Ed Glass, owners, are very friendly and accommodating. Although there was live music in town, we stayed at the B&B and enjoyed sitting out in the gazebo enjoying a beautiful evening.
