Day 4: Canberra

Another lovely day, not quite as warm as yesterday, less humidity, a clear blue sky and a slight breeze. It was back to the National Arboretum for photos as my camera battery had run down yesterday. Though new, the arboretum is beautiful. It is on the side of a hill overlooking the city and lake. There is a beautiful, brand new visitor center that just opened a couple of weeks ago.

After taking many photos, we went to the National Museum which was featuring an antique auto show. There must have been at least 50 cars there dating back to 1900 all restored and in mint condition. They weren’t all stock as a number of them were equipped with electric starters. Among the cars was a Stanley Steamer that was in mint condition. The steamer is definitely not a car you would want to use for a quick getaway, as it takes forever to heat up the boiler to operating temperature.

We spent quite a long time at the museum and later returned to the home of our hosts and spent the rest of the day relaxing and planning our trip. We still have to work out our problems with the bank, so that will be first on the agenda for tomorrow along with other shopping needs. So, until then,

Cheers,
