Day 47 (31 May 2025): Santa Rosa, CA to Roseville, CA and back.

Unfortunately, our friend’s flu bug has not improved so we will be unable to visit with her. Since I left my jacket at my daughter’s in San Diego, she had kindly mailed it to our friend’s home for me to pick up during our planned visit. So our new plan for today was to drive to our friend’s home and pick up the jacket and say a quick hello from a distance.

Because of the heat, 98 -101 degrees, we decided to skip any outdoor activities and enjoy the scenery from the comfort of our air conditioned car. (Peggy was particularly happy to not be in the Miata with the hot sun beating down on us.)

The trip to our friend’s home took us through  magnificent vineyards in Napa Valley wine country, up over the mountains on back roads and out into the Sacramento Valley. Going over the mountain roads was lots of fun, but I really miss the Miata on the curvy roads. The Camry is a reliable car with plenty of room for our luggage, camping gear, and the wine that we purchased. However, it isn’t as much fun as the Miata when navigating those curves.

With some extra days, we decided to return to Santa Rosa for the night. Tomorrow we will head west back to the coast and then north along California 1 and the Pacific Coast.
