Day 51, Wednesday, 3 Oct: Travel Day, Dijon to Tours, France

We set off for Tours, France under heavy clouds and some misting rain. Tours is not on our list of sites to visit. We are simply stopping there on our way to Brittany on the coast of France. At first, our gps took us through some very pretty wine country on back roads. It’s just as well it was so overcast; that way we weren’t tempted to stop and take pictures or sample the wines. Eventually, we ended up on the motorways and through some very flat farmland – a little like Kansas.

Along the way, we stopped at a rest area for lunch. We must say, when it comes to food, no one does it better than the French. Even at rest stops along the motorway, the food is absolutely delicious. As a result, ate our fill and our late “lunch” became our early dinner.

Our trip to our overnight stop in Tours, enroute to Brittany, was an uneventful 5 hours. The morning overcast had burned off and after checking in, we sat outside enjoying the warm sunshine. It was quite a contrast to the gloomy start to our day.
