Still more rain. It was raining fairly hard when we awoke this morning and the prediction was for more rain at least through the weekend. Rather than hang around and stay wet, we decided to head south along the coast road and see if we could get out of the rain. We took down our tent and folded it up as best we could in the rain. There was no way we could dry it out, so we just had to pack it wet. We’ll dry it out when we get to some dry weather.
We left Cairns about 10 AM and drove straight through to Bowen, QLD – about 500 km. Even though it was along the coast, it was not a pleasant trip. When we arrived in Bowen, it was raining so we found a cabin for the night. Dinner was catch as catch can with left overs we had in our camp cooler. With the foul weather and early sunset (the sun sets about 5:30 PM now) we called it an early night and planned head further south tomorrow morning. All we wanted to do was to get away from the rain.
