It had stopped raining when we awoke and had breakfast, and it remained dry (relatively) up until our departure. But it didn’t stay that way long. There is a lot of construction on the coast road from Bowen to Rockhampton and a lot of delays. There are also several small towns along the way and between construction, small towns and intermittent rain, we didn’t make very good time. Visibility was very poor, so there was nothing of interest to see. We arrived in Rockhampton about 5 PM, located a cabin for the night and went out for a pizza dinner. Afterwards, we returned to the cabin with plans to make it an early evening and an early departure in the morning.
We turned on the television long enough to get a weather forecast only to find out that more rain was expected in Brisbane over the weekend and until Tuesday at least. The weather forecast prompted us to change plans entirely and head inland over the mountains and back into the outback. After plotting our course for the morning, we read for a while and then tucked in for the night.
Cheers,
Wayne & Peggy
