We awoke to a magnificent morning. The sky was clear blue, the sun was bright, the temperature was warm and there was just a slight breeze to make it absolutely perfect. We were slow to get up, prepare and eat breakfast and clean up. We just sat and read our books for a while then went into town. As we hadn’t done laundry for awhile we were out of clean clothes, we sought out a laundromat and did our laundry.

While waiting for our laundry, we looked for a cafe where we could get a cup of tea for Peggy and a capaccino for me. In my mind, Miles is truly representative of a small outback town. It is located at the junction of the A2 and A5 highways, but there is really only one main road through the town without a single traffic light. Virtually everything is closed on Sunday except for the hotels, bars, gas stations, information center and, of course, the laundromat. As we could find no place to get tea or capaccino, we contented ourselves with coke and biscuits (cookies).

After doing the laundry, we went grocery shopping for dinner. We treated ourselves to a steak and potatoes dinner along with a delicious cabernet-shiraz blend. While in Australia, we have endeavored to drink only Australian wines which we have found extremely pleasant. When possible, we purchase local wines which, except for the Northern Territory and northern and central Queensland, have been easy to find. It would be so nice to be able to take some back home with us, but that’s not in the cards.
After dinner, we cleaned up, read books, had more wine and tucked in for the night.
