We set off under cloudy skies and had an uneventful trip to our last stop on this trip. Our path took us on mostly 2 and 4 lane roads through many little towns with a surprising number of red lights. Again, there were some wonderful views. Although we are only about 3 hours from home, we decided to spend a couple of days relaxing at Blackwater Falls State Park before returning to everyday life. We had hoped to camp, but the forecast for tomorrow was for rain. Tent camping in the rain is not fun for us. We are spending 2 nights in the lodge. Weather permitting, tomorrow we will do some short walks and look at the falls and the amazing views here in the park. If it rains, we will enjoy sitting by the fire and reading our books.
Interestingly enough, 7 years ago, this was also our last stop on a cross country camping trip. Since rain was in the forecast then too, we stayed in one of the cabins. We always planned on returning. We can’t believe it took us almost 7 years!!
