Today was a travel day for us as we said Adeus to Portugal and headed back into Spain. In our short visit to Portugal we have passed through very interesting countryside with some fantastic vistas. Because we programmed the GPS to avoid toll roads, we traveled on some interesting (and scary) roads. Some were pretty narrow and we were glad there were no trucks coming the other way.
After 6+ hours we arrived at our 2nd last destination, Salamanca. Then the challenge began trying to find the Tourist Information Office. We programmed the address into the GPS, but it doesn’t always know the one- way streets, detours and narrow streets that don’t allow cars and at one point, it just froze and gave up. We had to find a spot to pull over and reset it (and finding a spot to pull over was a challenge by itself). We finally got to a garage near the office and parked. As luck would have it, the garage was very close to the information center and turned out to be the same one used by the hotel we stayed at.
We have a nice hotel room just off the main square. We had a little stroll around the square, an early dinner (by Spain standards) and then back to our room to plan our sightseeing for Friday.
