Welcome to our 2017 roadtrip
Since we are not traveling to Europe this year, we decided it was time for another road trip around the country. As usual, we will be stopping at various places to visit family and friends. We will be traveling along the southern route to San Diego then north to Seattle and back across the midlands to DC. As most of you know, there will be a total solar eclipse on August 21st so, being on the west coast during that time, we timed our travel to be at the location near the Oregon coast where it first hits the U.S.
Traveling the southern route during July may seem a foolish thing to do, but we pretty much had to do it that way in order to visit all the folks we wanted to see and also be at the site of the eclipse in Oregon when it occurred. On the return trip, we plan on driving old route US30 which actually goes from the Pacific Ocean at Astoria, OR to the Atlantic Ocean at Atlantic City, NJ. Yes, we do know that NJ is east of Virginia, but we thought it would be fun to travel on one road from ocean to ocean and see more of the U.S. heartland.
So travel along with us and share our adventures & misadventures during the next couple of months.
