Day 36, Aug 22: Travel Day

After 8 1/2 hours on the road enroute from Corvallis to Seattle yesterday, we stopped for the night in Woodland near Vancouver, WA. Despite the bumper to bumper traffic, people were friendly and courteous. When we pulled into a rest area in Oregon on Interstate 5, there was someone to greet us and advise us of parking in the rear and no waiting at an additional restroom.

After a good night’s rest and breakfast, we continued our journey on Interstate 5 to Seattle along with many other eclipse travelers. It took us about twice as long as it normally would because they were still evacuating eclipse viewers from the various viewing sites. But we eventually reached Amy in Seattle. It was great to see her. Her home has a great view of Lake Washington as well as Mt. Rainier when not obstructed by clouds or smoke from fires.
