We had a leisurely breakfast here at Brohuspark B & B and chatted with our fellow travelers from Canada and Sweden. With directions from our host we went to see Alnarp Castle at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Lomma. The current castle was built in 1862 and was home to the Governors-General of Sweden in Scania. It is set amongst many trees, beautiful lawns and gardens.
After a leisurely stroll around the university campus we headed to Trelleborg, about an hour’s drive from Lomma, to scout out the approach to the ferry and ensure our passage. (The last thing we wanted to do was spend another night in Trelleborg.) We had chosen the “red eye” crossing (6 hours) since we hadn’t set up any reservations for accommodations the following day and the day ferries were either too early departing or too late arriving to try to start looking for accommodations in the dark.
We arrived in Trelleborg and after an hour or so, we finally figured out where to go and how to catch the ferry to Rostock. After that we found an interesting pub in Trelleborg for a great fish and chips dinner. After dinner, we drove to the ferry terminal, waited an hour or so for the ferry, drove aboard and once settled, we went straight to our berth for some sleep.
