Not a lot to report today. We got off to a lazy start today knowing we didn’t have far to go – only about 200 km. We arrived about noon and went into town to inquire about voyages to the Great Barrier Reef and rain forest river cruises. We really wanted a half day cruise to the reef, but unfortunately, there aren’t any from Port Douglas. There is one from Cairns, so we’ll try to catch that one on our way south.
Port Douglas is mostly a tourist town filled with shops and boutiques of all kinds that offer every conceivable kind of clothing, food, souvenirs and junk. After exploring the town, we went to find a place to stay for the night and located a beautiful caravan park. Since the weather was fair, we went back to tenting. The campground is well equipped and has high speed internet which they let us use as much as we want without charge. Since I was so far behind in editing and posting photos, we decided to spend the day catching up. Tomorrow we’ll be doing the river cruise.
