As we headed out today at 10 a.m., it was sunny and already 84 degrees. That doesn’t sound hot, but the sun has been so intense that we decided to travel with the top up and the air conditioning on. It sure feels like summer just doesn’t want to let go. Even Peggy, who loves summer, is getting tired of the heat!
The landscape keeps getting greener with more trees mainly pine and oak. It is quite a change from the southwest. Since we are eager to get home, we had another long travel day. Yesterday we traveled through eastern Texas into the northwest corner of Louisiana on our way to Arkansas. (Louisiana is one of the few states where Peggy had not been.) Today, in an attempt to limit travel on the interstates, we traveled briefly in Missouri and then into Tennessee while crossing the Mississippi River. We finished our travel day in Kentucky.
In the last 2 days we’ve traveled in 6 states. We are pretty sure that will be our record for this trip. We are on the Eastern edge of the central time zone so it really seems like it is getting dark early.
