We are finally on our way. Our scheduled departure time was 07:00 and we actually got on the road at 07:12 which I think is a near on-time record for us. It was relatively warm when we left (about 40 deg.) but seems to have gotten chillier as the day progressed. We ran into some light showers a couple of times, once along I81 and again along I40, but nothing to slow us down. We also ran into some heavy fog in mid TN. Other than weather, our drive was uneventful. We listened to a book on CD to help pass the time away; a very good story about an Italian detective by Donna Leon.
Someplace near Nashville we crossed into the Central Time Zone and discovered that we had an extra hour. It was then only about 4:30, so we decided to chug on a little further. We finally stopped at a place called Jackson, TN about 30 miles east of Memphis where we will be staying for the night. Our next destination is Oklahoma City, but since we are ahead of schedule, we might go on further.
That’s it for today. Not very exciting, but that will come later.
Cheers,
Wayne & Peggy
