After a wonderful visit with our friends, we resumed our slow homeward journey. For most of today’s trip, we avoided the interstates. Upon crossing into New Mexico, we entered Mountain Daylight Savings Time and lost one those 3 hour that we had gained when we headed west. As we traveled through national forests and Indian reservations and over, through and around mountains, the southwest landscape continues to enchant us. About 30 miles west of Deming we again crossed the Continental Divide.

After checking into our motel, we went in search of dinner. For part of today’s journey, we retraced some of our exact westbound route. The advantage was that we were able to return to Elisa’s House of Pies and Restaurant. The dinner and pies were just as tasty as the first time. 

Interesting road name: Bloody Tanks Wash in Miami, AZ
