Mississippi River

Happily, we had an uneventful travel day. For the most part, it was a bright sunny day with some pretty views. We again crossed the Mississippi River which is always impressive. Unfortunately, we also noticed the kudzu vines covering trees, utility poles and hillsides. At first glance, it may look like a harmless green vine, but it is a very invasive vine. It smothers the native plants and blocks sunlight. It can grow up to a foot per day during its peak growing season. It’s known as “the vine that ate the South”.

    No Parking (along a 3 foot wide shoulder with guard rail and 50 foot drop off.            Unfortunately we weren’t able to get a photo of this sign.
